Pepsi 300 - Shane Hmiel Notes
MOORESVILLE, NC (March 22, 2005) – Shane Hmiel’s 2005 Busch series season was off to a successful start after Mexico City. The WINFUEL driver had managed to overcome a disappointing 39th place finish at Daytona, to finish 3rd at California and a surprising 4th in the Mexico City road course event. Unfortunately, luck has not been on the side of the WINFUEL team since then.
“This WINFUEL team has had some really bad luck the past few weekends,” Hmiel said. “With the exception of Daytona, we were off to a really good start with back-to-back top-five finishes at California and Mexico, and then we had a transmission go out in Las Vegas and tire problems in Atlanta.”
Through all of the bad luck, going after the Busch series championship still remains the primary goal of Shane Hmiel and his #32 WINFUEL Chevrolet team. “I am really looking forward to going to Nashville and putting all of the bad luck behind us,” Hmiel said. “Hopefully all of our transmission problems are behind us, and we can work towards regaining some of the ground that we have lost in the championship standings.”
Braun Racing and Shane Hmiel hope that Nashville will be the turning point that will get their season back on track. “Nashville Superspeedway has never really been one of my favorite tracks, but then again I have never really had good equipment there,” Shane said. “I’m looking forward to going to Nashville knowing that Braun Racing gives me the excellent equipment that I need to compete for the win.”
“My crew chief, Todd Lohse, loves Nashville and he says that he’s got a really great set-up for the car. BR06 is my favorite car and luckily my guys back in the shop worked really hard to get it repaired and ready to race at Nashville.”
The WINFUEL/Braun Racing team travels to the “Music City” this weekend to compete in the only NASCAR event of the holiday weekend. Live coverage of the Busch series Pepsi 300 at Nashville Superspeedway starts this Saturday on FX at 3:30 p.m. EST.
