Telcel Motorola 200 pres. by Banamex - Jorge Goeters Notes
Jorge Goeters Mexico City Preview
#66 Scotiabank Inverlat / Canel's Ford Taurus / Brewco Motorsports
Telcel Motorola 200
Last Race- California - Greg Biffle, driver of the #66 Duraflame Ford,
started 22nd and finished 40th in the Stater Bros. 300 at California Speedway.
Biffle was charging to the front of the field, when a piece of windshield
tear-off plastic got stuck on the grill opening. Unfortunately, Biffle was unable
to shake the debris free from the grill opening and consequently, water
temperatures rose to 280 degrees. Ultimately, Team Brewco was forced to take the
#66 machine behind the wall due to a terminal engine failure. As a result of
the finish, the #66 Team Brewco Ford fell from 7th to 20th in NASCAR Busch
Series owner's standings.
Jorge Goeters Joins Team Brewco - Thirty-three year old, Mexico City
native Jorge Goeters will make his first career NASCAR Busch Series start this
weekend at Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez behind the wheel of the #66 Scotiabank /
Canel's Ford Taurus. Goeters, who has raced in a variety of series including:
Desafio Corona Series, Mustang Cup, Mexico Truck Series, and Indy Lights,
tested with teammate David Green at Virginia International Raceway last month.
Brewco Driver Line-Up - 2002 NASCAR Busch Series champion, Greg Biffle
will be driving the #66 Team Brewco Ford Taurus in Nextel Cup companion races
this season. USAC star, Aaron Fike (22), will run several stand-alone races,
while Mexico City native Jorge Goeters will make his first NBS start at
Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez. Together, the three talented drivers will compete for
the 2005 Owner's championship.
Equipment Notes - Team Brewco will unload Hopkins Chassis #BMI-66 this
weekend. Jorge Goeters tested #BMI-66 at Virginia International Raceway in
early February. The 2005 Ford Taurus is the newest car in the Team Brewco
stable. In November, Brewco Motorsports announced a multi-year agreement with Ford
Racing. Per the arrangement, Team Brewco will utilize Yates / Roush engines
and switch their entire fleet of vehicles to the 2005 Ford Taurus.
Team Brewco Sponsor Announced - Henkel in North America announced earlier
this week that it will expand its NASCAR presence through a Busch Series
sponsorship of Greg Biffle and Brewco Motorsports. Several Henkel brands including
Renuzit®, Armour® Star, Dep® Sport, Purex®, Loctite®, and Duck® brand
products will participate in the sponsorship of the #66 car as the primary sponsor
for five races and associate sponsor for 23 others.
Crew Chief Newt Moore on Racing in Mexico City - "This is a really cool
opportunity for our series. It's always fun to be part of something new and
exciting, and this race will give us the opportunity to show the world what we
are all about. We had a great test with Jorge a few weeks ago, and I think he'
s going to catch a lot of eyes down there. It's a totally new environment
for most of us, so there will an adjustment period, but we are determined to do
our best and come home winners. Jorge's experience at the race track will be
a huge advantage, and should help ease the learning curve for all of us."
Crew Chief Newt Moore on Road Course Racing - "Patience is the key to
success at any road course. You have got to conserve your equipment, especially
your brakes. These cars are a little heavier than the cars Jorge is used to,
but he is a really smooth driver and shouldn't have any trouble adjusting."
