Dollar General 300 - Stacy Compton Notes
ST Motorsports No. 59 Team Notes
Stacy Compton Quotes
On Lowe's: "There's been a lot of talk about the track surface
since the levigation project, and the 22 cautions there during the
600-mile race there last May certainly added to the conversation. Even
before they took out some of the bumps, the tricky areas were turns 2
and 4. It's still that way. You want to be on the gas, not the brakes,
when you're in those turns so you have a good head of steam for the
straightaways. The lack of grip since the levigation means you have to
pay more attention to your setup to make sure it's right."
On the season: "Although there are only five races remaining in the
Busch Series season, you never stop working to get better. We're not
only trying to win races this year, we're trying to build for the
future. It's been frustrating at times this year because we have a great
team and a great car. The only thing we've been missing is racing luck.
Once that falls into place, look out."
Crew Chief Chris Rice Quote
On Lowe's: "The recent test session at Lowe's had everyone
concerned because there was a lack of grip, especially in the second
turn. But things seemed to get better as we put rubber on the track. Now
the track's bringing this huge machine that will add even more rubber
before the race. Regardless, you have to pay attention. Whether there's
grip or not, you have to adjust for it. You spend the entire race at
Lowe's chasing the setup anyway, and Friday night's race won't be any
different."
