Newman, driving the No. 39 Alltel Dodge, is seeking a record fifth consecutive Busch Series victory at LMS this Friday. His other wins this year occurred in August at Watkins Glen, Michigan and Bristol and in September at Dover.
In the May LMS Busch race, Newman qualified 14th and finished third in his Alltel Dodge, in his first Busch start at the 1.5-mile track.
Newman has finished no lower than third in the six Busch races in which he has competed this season.
Newman has earned five victories and eight poles in 21 Busch races. He competed in 15 Busch races in 2001 and six this year.
Crew chief Roy McCauley is taking chassis PBC-006 to Lowe's Motor Speedway this weekend. This is a new chassis that was tested at LMS in September.
The Dollar General 300 at Lowe's Motor Speedway will air live on TNT at 8 p.m., EDT, on Friday, Oct. 14, and can be heard on PRN Radio.
