Carquest Auto Parts 300 - Kenny Wallace Notes

WALLACE GEARS UP FOR CHARLOTTE AND 325TH START

When Kenny Wallace gets behind the wheel of the Stacker 2 Ford this weekend at Lowe’s Motor Speedway, he will be taking the command to start his engine for the 325th time in the NASCAR Busch Series. Wallace’s first NBS race was at Martinsville in 1988 driving for Dale Earnhardt. He started the day 26th, and by the end of the race Wallace was 11th. He earned $650. Since then Wallace has visited victory lane nine times, won 10 poles, posted 60 top-fives and 145 top-10s. He has finished in the top-10 in 44% of the races he has competed in and won more than $4 million in prize money. During his NBS career, Wallace has an average finish of 14.5 and has raced more than 60,000 miles. Wallace still is well short of the record, held by Tommy Houston, who competed in 417 races between 1982-1996.

KENNY WALLACE AT LOWE’S MOTOR SPEEDWAY
The upcoming race at Lowe’s Motor Speedway will mark Wallace’s 23rd start at the track. In his previous 22 races, Wallace has finished in the top-10 six times. Wallace finished ninth in both races last year. He has not scored a DNF at Charlotte since 2001 and has completed 85% of the laps. Wallace has won $229,769 racing at Lowe’s. ppc Racing has enjoyed tremendous success at Lowe’s. Its drivers have one win, seven top-fives and 10 top-10s in 18 attempts.

KENNY WALLACE IN THE POINTS
Wallace was able to maintain sixth place in the drivers’ standings after finishing 20th at Richmond. He is only 19 points out of the top-five and 102 points out of third. Wallace is 373 points behind leader Carl Edwards. Last year, Wallace was 11th in points heading into Charlotte, 437 points behind the leader. Greg Pollex remains ninth in owners’ points.

QUOTING KENNY WALLACE

Kenny on Charlotte…
“This year Charlotte is a whole new ball game with the way they have grinded the race track. We had two top-10s there last year so I am looking forward to more success this year.

“I learned a lot by watching the All-Star race. I have that logged away in my brain and I am ready to go and compete for a win.”

Random thoughts
“Getting ready to come into the meat and the heat of the season, this is the part I like. Getting ready and gearing up, we are going to make a run at trying to get some races won for the entire ppc Racing/Stacker 2 race team.”

“I am pretty proud of 325 starts, that means I have some longevity to me. That’s a good thing.”

On the St. Louis Cardinals
“They are spoiling us. We (the fans) are very thankful for the season they are having. They have a seven-game lead and everything is going awesome.”

Tune in…
“E! True Hollywood Story” will be airing its feature on NASCAR featuring Kenny Wallace and his family on Monday, May 30 at 8 p.m. (ET).
