United Way 300 presented by Yellow and Sprint - Justin Labonte Notes

Labonte/Haas U.S. Coast Guard Racing Kansas Pre-Race Report

Justin Labonte, driver of the U.S. Coast Guard Shield of Freedom Chevrolet, will make his 69th NASCAR Busch Series start when the green flag drops for the United Way 300 at Kansas Speedway on Saturday October 8th.

LABONTE ON KANSAS... “This will be my first visit to Kansas, but I think we are prepared. This team has had a lot of firsts this year, its our first year together as a team running a full season, we haven’t had the season we had hoped for, but I think we are finally coming together. Our finishes might not show the improvement, we just haven’t had the best of luck, but every week we get better and better right off the truck. I’m going to make sure I get as much practice and time on the track that I can and get a good feeling for how the car is going to react. We are still looking for that Top-10 finish, what a better track than to make my first start here and get the teams first Top-Ten finish.

HAROLD HOLLY ON KANSAS… “Kansas isn’t just another cookie-cutter track, it has its qualities that set it apart. It is a fun track to visit, and I’m confident that even though it is Justin’s first visit there we have the ability to be great. Justin’s a great driver and I have all the confidence with this team backing him up in the pits that we can win races. We just haven’t had the best finishes the past few weeks, but this team has worked so hard to give the best cars they can. If we can run in the front and stay out of everyone else’s problems we might just get that Top-Ten finish this team deserves.

DOVER NOTES OF INTEREST

  • With the 2005 NASCAR Busch Series season being Labonte’s first full season, this will be his first visit to the 1.5 mile tri-oval. The team is still hunting their first illusive Top-Ten finish and hope that their visit to Kansas Speedway can be a day of firsts.
