Kroger 200 - Tyler Walker Notes

2005 TYLER WALKER INDIANAPOLIS RACEWAY PARK FAST FACTS
NO. 38 GREAT CLIPS DODGE CHARGER
KROGER 200
NASCAR BUSCH SERIES
SATURDAY, AUGUST 7

NOTES:

  • The running of the Kroger 200 at Indianapolis Raceway Park will be the second time Tyler has competed at the .686-mile banked oval in the NASCAR Busch Series.
  • Tyler has completed 435 laps at IRP in the USAC Silver Crown car. In six starts, he has posted two top-10 finishes and led 23 laps.
  • Tyler and fellow Great Clips teammate Kasey Kahne will be competing in the J.D. Byrider 100 USAC Silver Crown race on Thursday, August 4th at IRP.
  • Tyler will be throwing out the first pitch at the Indianapolis Indians game on Friday, August 5 at 7 pm. He will also be signing autographs prior to the start of the game at the Great Clips show car from 5:30-6:30 pm.
  • The Great Clips team is taking chassis # 43 to IRP this weekend. Chassis # 43 has competed numerous times this season: Atlanta Motor Speedway (started 14th, finished fifth, Kasey driving) both events held at Nashville Superspeedway (started 25th, finished 17th and started 14th, finished 19th, Tyler driving), Phoenix (started 37th, finished 42nd, Tyler driving) and Pikes Peak (started 18th, finished 23rd, Tyler driving).
  • The Great Clips team sits in 17th position in the overall NASCAR Busch Series owner point standings. Last weekend at Gateway International Raceway, Tyler finished 17th after starting 27th in the 200-lap event. Prior to the race, the No. 38 team was forced to move to the rear of the field due to an engine change before the start of qualifying.

Tyler’s Thoughts on Indianapolis Raceway Park:
“I’m really looking forward to IRP this weekend. I’ve had a lot of success there in the Silver Crown car, and I’m hoping to transfer some of that over into the Busch Series. Kasey (Kahne) and I are also running in the Silver Crown race on Thursday night so that should be a lot of fun and give me a little added seat time for the Busch race.

“IRP is just one of those tracks that is so fun to race on, a fast, flat oval. The most important thing we need to focus on is making sure that our car can get through the corners. Track position is also going to be key. We are going to need great pit stops to make sure we can keep the Great Clips Dodge up front.”
