On Indianapolis: “I love racing at Indianapolis. To me, there’s nothing better than short-track racing on a flat track. I started my Busch Series career there in 2002 with a sixth-place finish, and I’ve got a couple Top-10 finishes there in the truck series. It’s a track that doesn’t have a lot of secrets: You have to attack it, keep your car on the bottom groove and be ready to push people out of the way. That’s the way most of us grew up on the little short tracks back home.”

On the season: “We’re getting ready to come up on tracks for the second time, and that’s critical for a team with a rookie driver. I’ve been to IRP before in a Busch car, so I know what we need from the car, and I know what it takes to get around the place. I think you’ll see a tremendous improvement now that we’re in position to see some of these tracks for a second time. We can use experience and knowledge to fall back on.”

It’s the kind of short-track racing all of us started with, and the fact it’s in a town like Indianapolis makes it’s special. The Indianapolis Motor Speedway may be the most-known race track in the world, but the best racing in town is at IRP. There will be a lot of side-by-side racing and a lot of bumping and grinding. You bring a good car to IRP knowing that you’re probably going to have to knock out a bunch of dents after the race is over.”
