MBNA RacePoints 200 - Kyle Busch Notes

KYLE BUSCH
NO. 57 SHOP VAC CHEVROLET
DOVER PREVIEW

GOING FOR THE TRIPLE: In addition to competing in this weekend’s Nextel Cup event at Dover International Speedway behind the wheel of the No. 5 Kellogg’s Chevrolet, Kyle Busch also plans to compete in both the Craftsman Truck Series and Busch Series events at “The Monster Mile.”

Busch will pilot the No. 57 Shop Vac Chevrolet in Saturday’s 200-mile Busch Series event for Hendrick Motorsports, and will drive the No. 15 Chevrolet truck for Ballew Motorsports in Friday’s truck race.

Busch will be going for two wins in a row in both series. Two weeks ago at Lowe’s Motor Speedway, he became the youngest winner in truck series history, then claimed the win in the CarQuest 300 Busch Series race last Saturday night.

IMPROVE DAD’S GARAGE: Kyle Busch’s No. 57 Chevy will carry a special Shop Vac paint design this weekend, promoting a Father’s Day contest fans can enter at the Lowe’s Racing website (LowesRacing.com).

ShopVac, a Lowe’s vendor partner, is presenting “Improve Dad’s Garage.” Fans can enter to win the ultimate garage for their dad on Father’s Day by going online to submit entries (including a picture) of why their dad’s garage deserves to be improved by members of Team Lowe’s Racing.

Entries will be accepted through this Friday, June 3. Members of Team Lowe’s Racing will then pick five finalists from among all entries received. Once the finalists are announced, fans can go to LowesRacing.com to pick the winner, who will receive an all-expense paid trip for two to the October race at Lowe’s Motor Speedway, a complete offering of Shop Vac materials for their garage and a complete set of Hitachi and Kobalt tool sets.

Q&A WITH DRIVER KYLE BUSCH:

Are you looking forward to driving in all three NASCAR events at Dover this weekend?

“Yeah, I love to race, so any chance to do that is always cool. Dover’s not one of my favorite tracks, but it’s definitely going to be a benefit to our Cup effort for me to get all the seat time I’ll be getting in the truck and Busch races. Dover’s a place I still need to get a better handle on. (Brian) Vickers was able to win a Busch race here a couple of years ago, but my best finish was a fifth-place in the Busch race last June, and we brought back a very beat up racecar after that race.”

After running both the 300 and 600-mile races at Lowe’s Motor Speedway last weekend, is there any concern about running all three races at Dover?

“No, it’s not that big a deal. I was really surprised at how good I felt after the ‘600.’ I was kind of surprised when we hit the halfway point of the race, and then it got down to the end and I was like, ‘That’s it?’ It really didn’t feel like 600 miles. I get time to recover between each race this weekend, and the truck and Busch races are short enough to where I don’t think I’ll get too worn out. The key is just to stay hydrated and to try and eat healthy, and I think I’ll be fine.”

Are you very consistent on your conditioning routine, or do you just get in the gym when you can?

“I just get in the gym when I can. I definitely need to do better to make sure I get in there at least three times a week. I’ve been doing a lot better this year as far as what I eat and drink. I’ve cut out a lot of the sodas and my girlfriend, Erica, has been cooking a lot, so we’re not eating as much fast food or eating out as much. She’s really a good cook. Just making those small changes in my diet, I can tell a difference in how I feel.”
