MBNA RacePoints 200 - Dover International Speedway
Truex Tames the Monster Mile Back-to-Back
This time it all seemed pretty easy, Martin Truex Jr., the defending series champion, cruised to victory in the NASCAR Busch Series MBNA RacePoints 200 at Dover International Speedway. The win now gives Truex consecutive NASCAR Busch Series wins at Dover International Speedway; he won last September’s race after starting second. In his last three races at the track, Truex has two wins and one second-place finish. Truex, who led three times for 70 laps in the event, took the lead for the final time when he passed Carl Edwards on lap 143 and set sail for the checkered flag. Truex cruised to a 2.000-second win over rookie Reed Sorenson to seal the deal. This is Truex’s third NASCAR Busch Series win of the season. His other wins came at Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez in Mexico City and Talladega Superspeedway. Truex now has five top five and seven top-10 finishes in 14 races this season. Six of those top-10’s, and three of the top fives, have come in the last six races. Rookie Reed Sorenson finished in the runner-up position and earned the Rookie-of-the-race title. Jamie McMurray drove his golf–ball sponsored car to a third place finish, while Dale Jarrett and Tony Raines finished in the top five. Truex moved up one spot to third in the NASCAR Busch Series standings. He is currently 120 points behind the leader Carl Edwards and 46 points behind second place Reed Sorenson.
