Stacy Compton Quotes
On Daytona: “Our record at Daytona doesn’t reflect how good we’ve been there or how much we like that track. The problem with restrictor plate racing is there’s always a big crash. Unfortunately, we’re usually in it. The key to Daytona is avoiding the big crash. A smart race strategy is to find a good drafting partner and stay in line. You can make a lot of passes by staying in line as other people pull out and fall out of the draft.”
On the season: “This is a pivotal race because it’s real easy to get caught up in one of the big crashes that come with restrictor plate racing. The same holds true for everyone else in the Top 20. There will be drivers ranked ahead of us who will crash; there will be drivers ranked behind us that will contend for a win. That’s what restrictor plate racing is all about. If we can miss the crash, we should have a good day in the standings.”
Crew Chief Chris Rice Quote
On Daytona: “As a crew chief, you dread races at Daytona. There are no fender-benders there. We’re either going to take a good car home in one piece or we’re going to take a good car home in a lot of pieces. We’ve got a great car for Daytona. Robert Pressley qualified on the outside pole there last year with the Clorox car and he had a top-five finish. Jon Wood, our teammate, finished second earlier this year at Talladega. We’ve shared a lot of notes and both teams should be even better – providing we finish in one piece.”
