Stater Bros. 300 - Jon Wood Notes
ST Motorsports No. 47 Team Notes
Jon Wood Quotes
On California: “I’ve always loved California because it’s fast and you can run the bottom, run the middle or run up against the wall as long as your car is free off the corners. You want to make sure the car comes off the second and fourth turns with the front end pointed down the straightaway so you can floor it. I remember going there for the first time and finishing third. I hope the same applies for my first Busch Series race.”
On the season: “You learn lessons in this sport in a hurry. We got into the Top 10 at Daytona, but we got shuffled around. Then we got knocked through the infield grass by another car at the end of the race. But these guys on the Clorox/Wisk Ford never gave up, and we finished on the lead lap. That’s a pretty good testament to what this team is all about.”
Crew Chief Jay Guy
On California: “One of the biggest fears for a place like California is engine failure because you stretch every piece to the limit. This time we’re coming with the new Ford D3 cylinder head that will allow us to be fast without pushing the engine too far. Jon has a tremendous feel for California, we have a great car for the race and we know we’re going to have plenty of horsepower. We’re going to concentrate on making Jon comfortable in the car so he can have fun out there.”
