STACKER 2 TEAM RIDING HIGH AFTER DAYTONA
Kenny Wallace showed this past weekend that he is still strong at
restrictor plate races after his fourth place finish in Daytona. With
restrictor plate races done for the season, the Stacker 2 Racing team
now turns its sites to the 1.5-mile track in Joliet, Ill. Wallace has
been on a roll since posting his only DNF of the season at Talladega in
April. Since then Wallace has yet to finish outside of the top-20. He
has posted three top-fives and six top-10s. Aside from returning to his
competitiveness of years ago, Wallace is also carrying the flag for all
Busch Series teams that are currently not affiliated with a Cup
program. His fifth-place ranking is the best of all of these types of
teams. Wallace says he s not surprised by this and fully expected to
see these results when he brought Stacker 2 over to ppc Racing.
KENNY WALLACE AT CHICAGOLAND SPEEDWAY
ppc Racing hopes its success and Kenny Wallace’s experience will
combine for a strong run this weekend at Chicagoland Speedway. While
Wallace has struggled in his three starts at this track, ppc Racing has
been very consistent. In his three starts, Wallace has finished 36th,
28th and 14th. ppc Racing’s statistics gives Wallace reason to believe
he will have a top-10 finish this week. In seven starts they have
posted two top-fives and six top-10’s, including a runner-up finish
last year.
KENNY WALLACE IN THE POINTS
Kenny Wallace’s success of late has him poised to take over fourth this
weekend at Chicagoland from Carl Edwards. Wallace is only three points
behind Edwards. If Wallace overcomes Edwards, it will tie his highest
place in the standings. Wallace is only 123 points out of third and
lost a little ground on leader Truex Jr., who won this past weekend in
Daytona. Wallace is 217 points out of first. Owner Greg Pollex remains
fifth.
QUOTING KENNY WALLACE
On success of race team…
“I am really proud of my team in the fact that we lead the Busch Series
independents in being the highest ranked team out there with no Cup
affiliation. It makes me feel good that Wes Ward and all my guys can
build me a race car to compete with all the cup affiliated teams. We
take a lot of pride in being highest in points among those teams.”
On Chicago…
“We are taking our very best car to Chicago. We are taking the car that
we ran second in twice at Nashville. I am happy about that. We are
going up there to keep doing the same thing we have been doing and keep
putting ourselves in a position to win.
“We have four top-fives and I am so happy to be where I am right now.
“This team is going to keep doing the same thing it has been doing. We
are not going to change anything and we know that wins are coming soon.”
Crew Chief Wes Ward…
“We had a plan going into the season and we have to stick to that plan.
Kenny is doing an awesome job and the crew is doing an awesome job.
Kenny has built confidence in himself and in the team and we have to
carry that momentum all the way through Chicago.
“We have a good car. We are taking chassis #24, which has been a good
car for us this year. We are excited, we have to keep the momentum and
keep digging.”
