Harvick Pulls a Bristol Sweep
One of the greatest Yogi-isms of all time says that, “It was Déjà vu all over again,” and Yogi didn’t even see Kevin Harvick at Bristol this weekend. Harvick’s victory in the Busch Series Sharpie Professional 250 at Bristol Motor Speedway looked eerily similar to his performance in Sunday’s Nextel Cup race. Harvick swept both races after starting from the back in each. Because qualifying was rained out, Harvick would start from the rear, and methodically make his way through the field and miss all the wrecks, to take the lead at lap 181 and lead the rest of the way. Harvick won by .159 seconds over teammate Jeff Burton to capture the 14th Busch Series victory of his career. Burton finished second, while rookie Reed Sorenson crossed the finish line in third place and was the only series regular in the top five. Matt Kenseth finished in fourth place, while Sterling Marlin finished fifth. The Sharpie Professional 250 produced a record-breaking 14 caution flags for a total of 102 laps.
Busch Series Race Postponed Until Monday Morning
The Sharpie Professional 250 at Bristol Motor Speedway has been postponed until Monday morning due to persistent rain in the area. The Busch Series event will start at 10:30 am ET on Monday April 4, 2005 and will be televised on FX and some local FOX affiliates.
Rain Washes Out Busch Qualifying, Edwards Starts from Pole
Mother Nature was the winner during Busch qualifying Saturday morning at the Bristol Motor Speedway. Rain washed out the session for the Sharpie Professional 250, setting the field as per the NASCAR Busch Series rulebook. As a result rookie Carl Edwards will start from the pole position, giving him his third top starting position in the last four races. Jeff Burton, driving the No. 21 Chevrolet normally driven by Kevin Harvick and Brandon Miller, will start from the second spot, while Clint Bowyer and Martin Truex start from row two.
