Truex, Bowyer Battle for Busch Series Title at Homestead

The 2005 NASCAR Busch Series championship comes down to the final race of the season and is a battle between two drivers.

Defending series champion Martin Truex Jr. leads his rival, Clint Bowyer, by 64 points heading into Saturday’s season finale at Homestead-Miami Speedway. Truex will win the title if he finishes 12th or better, or leads a lap and finishes 14th or better regardless of where Bowyer finishes in the race.

This marks the 13th time in the 24-year history of the NASCAR Busch Series that the championship will be decided via the results of the final race of the year. Homestead-Miami has been the site of four of those down-to-the-wire titles, the most recent in 2003 when six drivers were separated by 89 points coming into the race before Brian Vickers held off the challenges to claim the championship.

Truex is attempting to become the sixth driver to win two NASCAR Busch Series titles, and the fifth to capture championships in consecutive seasons.
