Scruggs to be Honored in Memorial Fund-raiser at Martinsville
Bobby Scruggs spent 38 years working with drivers as a NASCAR officials. On Friday, Oct. 21, some of those drivers will return the favor by participating in a fund-raiser in Scruggs' memory at Martinsville Speedway.
His family and friends in his native Roanoke, VA., have formed the Bobby Scruggs Memorial Foundation to honor Scruggs, and the Oct. 21st event is the group's first major fundraisers. Proceeds will be used to fund scholarships for youngsters pursuing a career in motorsports.
The evening will include a driver autograph session, a barbeque dinner and a silent and live auction.
The fund-raiser will be held in the hospitality area at Martinsville Speedway at 6 p.m. on Oct. 21st, after qualifying for the SUBWAY 500 NASCAR NEXTEL Cup race. Several drivers are scheduled to be on hand for an autograph session, including Kyle Petty, Joe Nemechek, Ken Schrader, Bobby Labonte, Jimmy Spencer, Robert Pressley and Rick Mast. Former driver and NBC commentator Benny Parsons will emcee the event.
