Stacy Compton Quotes

On Talladega: "A racetrack like Talladega suits some drivers, and it doesn't suit others. That's why you usually see the same people running well there every year. I like the place. I like to go fast. The key, of course, is missing the big wreck that always seems to knock about half the cars out. In 2002 we missed the big wreck and finished second. Last year we didn't miss the wreck."

On the season: "Our car at Nashville was good enough to win. I think we're at a point where we can contend on a weekly basis. Robert (Pressley) and I are able to exchange a lot of good information, and Steve (Plattenberger) and Jeff (Chandler) are working hard to give both of us great race cars. It's only a matter of time before we both start winning races."

Crew Chief Jeff Chandler Quote

On Talladega: "As a crew chief, you come into Talladega knowing there's a 50-50 chance you're coming home with a wrecked car that won't ever race again. The good thing is we won't need a superspeedway car again until Daytona. This same car was running in the top 10 at Daytona earlier this year when we lost a transmission, so we know it's a good car. Stacy has a real knack for restrictor plate racing, so I feel good about the race. Stacy needs to get the car up front where there doesn't seem to be as much trouble as the middle and the end of the pack."
