Funai 250 - Richmond International Raceway

Busch Takes Richmond Victory Under the Lights
It was a case very similar to last week’s Busch series event; a youngster won the pole position, dominated in winning the race, and took the lead atop the point standings. This time it was rookie Kyle Busch who ruled the weekend. Busch scored the first win of his 18-race career on Friday night, taking the checkered flag for the Funai 250 at Richmond International Raceway, to become the youngest driver to win a race at Richmond. The race featured only six lead changes among four drivers, while Busch paced the field for 236 of the event’s 250 laps, the second time this season that he has lead the most laps. To take the victory, Busch had to fend off a hard charge from former series champion Greg Biffle, beating him to the finish line by .150 seconds. With the win, Busch took the lead in the championship standings, leading Martin Truex Jr. by 15 points. Kevin Harvick brought his Chevrolet home in third, followed by Bobby Hamilton Jr. and Jason Keller in the top five.

Rookie Busch Grabs Richmond NBS Pole

Nextel Cup regular Jamie McMurray made a triumphant return to the driver’s seat of the No. 1 Dodge owned by James Finch, grabbing the outside pole position. Bobby Hamilton Jr. will roll of third on the starting grid while Casey Atwood will start fourth.
