Biffle on Top at Pikes Peak
Greg Biffle came from worst to first on Saturday afternoon in Colorado. Biffle, who is also racing in the Nextel Cup series event at Pocono, had Mike McLaughlin qualify the car on Friday while he qualified his Cup car in Pennsylvania. Thus Biffle had to start at the rear of the field due to the driver change. Biffle charged from the back to the front to win the Goulds Pumps/ITT Industries 250 at Pikes Peak International Raceway, his fourth Busch series win on the season. Biffle took the lead on lap 228 and led to the end, outrunning Stacy Compton to the finish line by 1.651 seconds to capture his 15th career win in the series. Compton nabbed the runner-up position, while Jason Leffler crossed the finish line in third. Rookie Clint Bowyer and points leader Martin Truex Jr. rounded out the top five in the finishing order.
Truex Roars to Pikes Peak Pole
Martin Truex Jr. will start the Busch series event on Saturday from a very proverbial position, the pole position. Truex won the pole for the Goulds Pumps/ITT Industries 250 at Pikes Peak International Raceway, scoring his series-leading sixth Busch pole of the season. Truex now holds the Pikes Peak track record with a qualifying lap in 26.186 seconds, at an average speed of 137.478 mph. Kyle Busch will join Truex on the front row, starting from the outside pole, giving the top two in the points a one-two start. David Stremme and Johnny Sauter start from row two, while Bobby Hamilton Jr. will roll off fifth.
