Federated Auto Parts 300 - David Stremme Notes

Seventh Race Stretch with Stremme in Nashville

Mooresville, NC (June 9, 2004) – Team TRIMSPA remains confident they can continue to stay on top of their game as the team enters its’ eighth straight race weekend, part of a 12-race stretch in the Busch Series schedule. A rain-delayed race forced the TRIMSPA team to stay two extra days to complete last weekend's race at Dover International Speedway. The Braun racing boys then traveled straight to Chicagoland Speedway in Joliet, IL to test this week, leading up to Saturday night’s race at Nashville Superspeedway.

“We had a great test in Chicago and improved on our intermediate track program,” said Stremme. “The guys traveled for almost a week straight so it was good to get back. But for me this job doesn't feel like work. I like racing so much that it is like a vacation every day despite the long hours.”

Complicating the shortened workweek, the TRIMSPA team had to switch plans to run Chassis 010, aka “David’s Favorite Car” this weekend after Stremme was abruptly collected in a mid-race wreck at Dover. Despite challenges, Team TRIMSPA remains optimistic as it heads into the eighth week of this long stretch of Busch Series competition

“This schedule is not as hectic as it sounds,” said crew chief Randy Cox. “It’s more of a laundry logistics problem than anything. The guys on the TRIMSPA team are used to this travel. As far as having to repair our primary last weekend, there is a positive side to it. Repairing these cars is a good time to incorporate all of your latest ideas. When that’s done, the car will be bigger and badder than before.”

To make sure the team does not lose a beat while the intended primary Dodge is repaired, Cox has elected to bring out chassis 006 to compete this weekend at Nashville Superspeedway. Chassis 006 has not been raced since Jamie McMurray posted his fourth Busch victory in a row at Rockingham Speedway earlier this season.

“Chassis 006 is the sister car to ‘David’s Favorite Car’,” said Cox. “He led the race in Rockingham last fall with 006 and finished fifth. David hasn’t raced it this year but Jamie has, and it’s been prepared and ready to go ever since.”

Team TRIMSPA will be back on track this Saturday for the Federated Auto Parts 300 Busch Series race at Nashville Superspeedway. The event will be televised live Saturday, June 12th at 7:30 p.m. eastern time on FX and will broadcast nationally at that same time on radio stations affiliated with Motor Racing Network (MRN) and XM Satellite Radio Channel 144.
