Siemens 200 - Rookie Post-Race Quotes
Where the Raybestos Rookies finished at NH:
STAN BOYD, #51 QUALITYMETRIC.COM DODGE: "We finally put in a good effort. We had a good motor, a good car, and enough people to run the show. We had a sponsor for this race. It wasn't about making money; it was about running good this week. I got out there in the race and the car started off bad but then it came to me. About the time it was time to start really putting the hammer down, the thing started missing really bad and it was just getting worse and worse. The battery is dead, and by the time you put a battery in it, you're 10 laps down so I guess the boss decided to park it for the day."
KYLE BUSCH, #5 LOWE'S/SHOP VAC CHEVROLET: WHAT HAPPENED ON THE RESTART WITH JASON KELLER? "Well, basically, I was anticipating and I guess that I anticipated wrong. I got in the back of Jason and I hate it for him and everybody else. It's a shame. I wouldn't wreck myself in order to ruin my own day so I think that everybody should understand that and that's not the way I race. Obviously I'm not a championship contender today. I anticipated wrong. I kind of screwed up and got into the back of Jason. I thought he was going and obviously I was wrong with it. I got into the back of him and I hate it for him and everybody else that was involved on his side. I wouldn't race that way in order to wreck somebody because I wasted my own day trying to do something stupid. It's a shame for all of us and we'll go on to next week." WHAT HAPPENED IMMEDIATELY AFTER THE RACE? "I think they were kind of immature about it. Obviously I'm a championship contender driver and I wouldn't do anything to screw up my own chances. I got into the back of him, OK I wrecked him, sorry. I'm sure there's going to be one for me later on this year but that's not the way I race and they understand that. That's probably the first two guys that I've gotten into all year. All of a sudden it came in one race. Not a good deal." WHAT HAPPENED WITH JAMIE MCMURRAY? "He checked up. He got a good run through the center of the corner and you just can't come off the corner. Physics doesn't work that way. He checked up a little bit and I got into the back of him there. I was trying to do a crossover move but he got a little bit too loose and slipped."
PAUL MENARD IN THE #11 MENARDS/PITTSBURGH PAINTS CHEVROLET WAS THE RAYBESTOS ROOKIE OF THE RACE AT NEW HAMPSHIRE, THE FIRST TIME THIS SEASON HE HAS TAKEN THE HONOR. "For a first time out, brand new team, I'm real proud of the guys. I definitely had a top-five car; just into a little accident at the end there that wasn't our fault. I couldn't be happier with Tony Gibson [crew chief] and everybody on board. We're going to win one next year." YOU RAN IN THE TOP-10 LATE IN THE RACE. "We were running some of those guys down. That last restart we were kind of biding our time. I think we were running eighth or something and a couple of guys were coming back to us then we got caught up in somebody else's mistake. It's too bad." WHAT HAPPENED ON THAT INCIDENT? "I couldn't really see. I was right behind Hornaday and they started spinning. Hornaday checked up and got into the back of him and folded the fender down on the tire and we had to pit or else we would have cut that thing down. The fender was bowed into the tire. Had we kept running we would have cut a hole in the sidewall so we had to come in and roll the fender back out. It knocked the toe out just a little bit. It was definitely a top-five car here today. It's a good way to start off the year, a new era." WERE YOU SURPRISED HOW PHYSICAL THE RACE WAS? "This track is a lot like a short track and you drive it kind of the same way, I guess. There was no forgiveness out there." THIS TEAM SHOWED WHAT THEY HAD TODAY. "I couldn't be happier with Tony Gibson and the whole crew. Not to bad for the first time out." WAS THIS A RUN THAT YOU CAN BUILD ON? "Definitely. To start off right out of the box, we definitely had a top-10, top-five car and some of them were coming back to us there at the end. We just got caught up in somebody else's mistake, which happens. It's part of the game. But we definitely had a fast car and I'm looking forward to some more races." YOU ARE ABLE TO SHOWCASE YOUR ABILITY IN THIS EQUIPMENT. "It's top notch equipment. These cars are light and they're fast, good power. The boys at DEI definitely do their homework on the racecars. This is not a bad first outing. We definitely have a lot to build on and improve on but we'll definitely be there at one of these races."
