Siemens 200 - Jason Leffler Notes

LEFFLER LOOKING FOR MAGICAL TOP-10 AT THE "MAGIC MILE"

LOUDON, N.H. (July 20, 2004) - With five starts at New Hampshire International Speedway, Jason Leffler and his Haas Automation Racing team are not concerned with how many laps Leffler has had on the track; instead, they are anxious about the one lap that means the most, and if Leffler will be the first one to cross the line on Saturday for the running of the Siemens 200.

NHIS has been dubbed the "Magic Mile", but previously it has not shown too much of its magic to Leffler. After having led over 53 laps in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series New England 200 in the 2002 season, an accident ruined his hopes of a win. With the four starts that he has combined in the Cup and Busch series', Leffler's highest finish is 24th. Rolling into NHIS, Leffler and his Haas Automation Racing team have the confidence and the season going for them to leave New Hampshire with a magical Top-10 finish.

"Loudon hasn't always been my best track, but I've had some success there getting the pole and leading a bunch of laps in the Truck Series race in 2002. Hopefully that will help me when we get there this weekend," said Leffler. "New Hampshire International Speedway is challenging. It's a flat racetrack and that's the fight - getting the car to rotate through the center of the corner and still be able to get up off the corner. You definitely have to have good forward bite to be able to drive as straight off the corner as possible. You have to have a lot of motor, but the car is going to have to turn really good in the center of the corner if you are going to have a chance at winning at New Hampshire."

Leffler and his Haas Automation Racing team are geared up to post a win for the NASCAR Busch Series race Saturday, but qualifying is Friday and will determine whether Leffler has his work cut out for him to make it to the front or if he has to hold back a 43-car field. Leffler's qualifying average is 7.57 and improving every weekend.

"Qualifying is important in Loudon because it's so tough to pass and then during the race you've really got to depend on the pit crew to get you as close to the front as possible. I'm looking forward to getting there. I think this team is up for the challenge."

Leffler and his No. 00 Haas Automation Chevrolet are geared up for their trip up north to the New Hampshire International Speedway for the running of the NASCAR Busch Series Siemens 200 on Saturday, July 27. The race will be broadcast on television at 1 PM (ET) by TNT and can also be heard on MRN radio.
