Truex Wins from Pole in Memphis
Martin Truex Jr. was able to survive a record number of caution flags and a green-white-checkered finish to take the checkered flag for the Sam’s Town “He Dared to Rock” 250 at the Memphis Motorsports Park. Truex grabbed an extra five bonus points for leading the most laps on the day, leading three times for a total of 133 laps. Truex outran Greg Biffle to the line by 0.305 seconds in the third green-white-checkered finish of the season. The race featured a record 13 caution periods for a total of 70 laps, including Michael Waltrip’s spin on lap 249 that set up the sprint to the finish. Biffle crossed the finish line in second place, followed by Ron Hornaday in third. Rookie Clint Bowyer and Mike Bliss, last week’s winner at Charlotte, rounded out the top five in the finishing order. Truex now takes a 208-point lead into Atlanta next weekend.
