Alan Kulwicki 250 - The Milwaukee Mile

Hornaday Wins in Milwaukee
Ron Hornaday fought back from a lap down at The Milwaukee Mile to emerge as the victor in the Alan Kulwicki 250 on Saturday night. In what appeared to be shaping up as an event that a youngster would score their first Busch series win, a wily veteran made a late charge and came away as the winner. Hornaday passed leader Shane Hmiel with seven laps remaining and pulled away to a 1.272-second victory over pole-sitter David Stremme. The final seven laps were the only laps that Hornaday would lead on the night, while Hmiel led the most laps in the event, pacing the field four times for 95 laps. Stremme led five times for 75 laps. The win is the first of the season for Hornaday and the fourth of his career. Jason Keller, last season’s winner at Milwaukee, brought his Ford home in third place, while Hmiel and Bobby Hamilton Jr. rounded out the top five in the finishing order.
