Busch Drives to Five in Michigan
For the fifth time in his rookie season, 19-year-old Kyle Busch visited victory lane in a Busch series race. Busch outran veteran Mark Martin by 3.861 seconds to score the win in the Cabela's 250 at Michigan International Speedway. Busch put on a dominating performance, leading 87 of the event’s 125 laps to earn the bonus points for leading the most laps. Martin, who was making his first series start since 2000, started the race at the rear of the field and worked his way to a runner-up finish. Points leader Martin Truex Jr., who started from the pole position and led the first 22 laps, finished third and now leads Busch by 97 points heading to Bristol. Casey Mears crossed the finish line in fourth and Kasey Kahne rounded out the top five in the finishing order.
Busch Qualifying Canceled, Truex to Start from Pole
Qualifying for the Cabela's 250 at Michigan International Speedway was rained out and the starting lineup was set according to the NASCAR Busch Series rulebook. Raybestos Rookie Paul Menard was the fastest driver in practice at Michigan this morning but did not qualify for Saturday's race due to lack of car owner qualifying attempts. Series point leader Martin Truex Jr. will lead the field to the green flag on Saturday afternoon with Kyle Busch alongside on the front row. Nextel Cup regular Kevin Harvick will roll off third, followed by Jason Leffler and Greg Biffle in the top five.
