The SpongeBob SquarePants Movie 300 - Rookie Qualifying Quotes

C. Bowyer, 12th
K. Busch, 18th
P. Menard, 40th

RAYBESTOS® ROOKIE CONTENDER QUALIFYING QUOTES FOR THE SPONGEBOB SQUAREPANTS MOVIE 300 NASCAR BUSCH SERIES RACE AT LOWE'S MOTOR SPEEDWAY, OCTOBER 14, 2004.

CLINT BOWYER in the No. 33 TBA Chevrolet was the top Raybestos Rookie qualifier at Charlotte. He will start 12th in Friday night's race: HOW WAS THE LAP? "It was better. We got to get in the show first with that car. A lot of cars were wrecking out there in practice and the track was really slick. The car was really loose so we knew it would come to us a little bit when the night came; the track would cool down a lot. It was really good and I think it will race good tomorrow. This is the first time I've been to Charlotte with a Busch car. I drove one of Kevin's [Harvick] trucks here in a test, but this was fun. It's going to be interesting. The crew is constantly preaching to me about how the track changes and stuff like that and that's one reason that I'm in that car. Kevin is with that number and he's probably going to run that number next year some so he's getting some benefit out of it and me as well, just having seat time. This is one of the harder tracks on the circuit along with Darlington. It sounds like we might run there, too, so that would be two good tracks to get under my belt for next year." HOW ROUGH IS TURN 1? "It was really bad for me. That's my toughest corner and everybody else is having trouble down in 3 and 4. For me, it's loose getting into 1; it's really loose down there. I guess it's pretty well different for everybody."

KYLE BUSCH, No. 5 SpongeBob SquarePants The Movie Chevrolet: "Overall, I guess, it was a good lap for the Patrick car. We're really looking forward to tomorrow. I think we have a good race package underneath it. You never really know how many people are using qualifying setups or intermediate setups or full race-on. We're on a full race and we're trying to get a good solid lap and put 'er in the show and hopefully we can have a good night tomorrow night." HOW MUCH EXPERIENCE DO YOU HAVE HERE AT NIGHT? "I've ran the Cup race here in the spring and I've also ran a couple ARCA races. I have some good experiences here at night and I've also had some bad ones, too [smiles]. We'll see what happens for us tomorrow night." HAS THE TRACK BEEN COMPLETELY DIFFERENT TONIGHT THAN ANYTHING YOU SEEN HERE BEFORE? "You can't really tell in two laps. It's real hard. You've got air pressures all stupid and the car all stupid to make a one lap run. It's really more worrying about tomorrow night and seeing what you can work on in the race."

PAUL MENARD, No. 11 Menards/Moen Chevrolet: "It was real loose getting into turn 3. It was bottoming out both ends and I was just tying to keep it at the bottom." DID YOU THINK YOU CAUGHT A BREAK BY GOING OUT LATE IN THE DRAW? "I don't think so. It seemed like there was a little moisture on the track, I guess. With my little experience here when it gets dark, it moistens up and just looses grip. I thought it would be an advantage but I don't really think it was. I don't think it mattered a whole lot but hopefully we'll get in the show and it least have a good race tomorrow."
