SpongeBob SquarePants Movie 300 - Lowe’s Motor Speedway

First Busch Win is Pure Bliss
Capturing your first Busch series win could put you in a state of extreme happiness, or a state of Bliss. Mike Bliss pulled off a phenomenal three-wide pass late in the race and held off some of Nextel Cup’s best to win The SpongeBob SquarePants Movie 300 at Lowe’s Motor Speedway. As 2003 Nextel Cup champion Matt Kenseth and 2002 Nextel Cup Rookie of the Year Jimmie Johnson battled furiously side-by side for the lead on lap 181, Bliss ducked underneath, making in three wide, and completed the pass exiting turn four. Bliss then went on to win by .338 seconds over Kenseth to claim his first career Busch series victory. Bliss led the final 19 laps of the event, while pole-sitter Casey Mears led the most laps on the night, leading three times for a total of 61 laps. Kenseth came home in second, followed by Johnson in third. Greg Biffle and Kyle Busch rounded out the top five in the finishing order. The race tied a record for number of caution periods, as the event was slowed 12 times for a total of 54 yellow-flag laps.

Mears Wins NBS Pole at Lowe's Motor Speedway
Casey Mears led the Nextel Cup invasion of the NASCAR Busch Series during Thursday night’s qualifying for the SpongeBob SquarePants Movie 300 at Lowe’s Motor Speedway. Mears won the pole position with a qualifying effort of 29.506 seconds, at an average speed of 183.014 mph, his second NBS pole of the season. Nextel Cup regulars swept the top-four starting spots for the Busch event and exactly half of the starters in the top twenty are competitors on the Cup side. Robby Gordon will join Mears on the front row, starting from the outside pole, while Greg Biffle and Jamie McMurray will start from row two. Blake Feese was best-in-class, starting fifth as the top-qualifying driver who does not drive in the Nextel Cup series.
