May 29, 2004

Mark McFarland Next Up in the No. 6 Hungry Drivers™ Dodge:

Mark McFarland, the reigning NASCAR Dodge Weekly Series Champion will climb behind the controls of the No. 6 Country Crock Dodge this weekend at Lowe’s Motor Speedway, marking his first race for the Hungry Drivers™ program. McFarland made his NASCAR Busch Series debut in 1998 at New Hampshire International Speedway and has a total of seven NBS races under his belt. (For stats, see below.)

Mark McFarland on Lowe’s Motor Speedway:
“I am looking forward competing again in the NASCAR Busch Series, especially in a car owned by Tommy Baldwin. All season, I have watched Paul, Tracy and Scott drive the Hungry Drivers Dodge and each week you can tell what a great race car this team puts on the track. Until the truck race last week, I had no experience at Lowe’s Motor Speedway. With two practice sessions and a 200-mile race I was able to get a lot of laps under my belt which I think will give me an advantage coming into this week’s Busch race. I learned a lot about the characteristics of the track, where to lift, where to run high, where to run low, how to come onto to pit road, etc. All of those things are going to be very helpful to me this weekend. The biggest road block is going to be deciphering what changes I will need to make to my driving style in the Busch car versus the truck. I hope to spend the first practice session working on that and getting comfortable in the car.

Our goal for this weekend is pretty simple – finish on the lead lap and in the top-20. I have three races to prove myself, so I plan to take it easy, get comfortable in the car, stay out of trouble and post a good solid finish for everyone involved in the Hungry Drivers program and especially everyone with Shedd’s Spread Country Crock.”

This Week’s Primary Sponsor:
Shedd’s Spread Country Crock® spread will serve as the primary sponsor on the No. 6 Dodge this weekend in the Car Quest Auto Parts 300.

Equipment:
The No. 6 Hungry Drivers™ Racing team will compete with chassis No. 11 this weekend at Lowe’s Motor Speedway. This is the same chassis that Tracy Hines drove to a 20th place finish at Texas Motor Speedway.

Special Appearances:
Mark McFarland will sign autographs on Thursday, May 27, 2004 from 6-7:30pm at the Hungry Drivers™ display area at Speedstreet in downtown Charlotte.
