Busch Captures Checkered Flag at Charlotte
Rookie Kyle Busch might have had the strongest car on Saturday at Lowe’s Motor Speedway but he needed a little help to capture the win in the Carquest Auto Parts 300. Busch took the lead when leader Joe Nemechek lost control of his car with 18 laps remaining and went on to capture his second victory in the last three races. Busch led the most laps on the day, pacing the field three times for a total of 93 of the event’s 200 laps. The race featured 11 lead changes among seven drivers. Jamie McMurray was able to finish second in his second race behind the wheel of the No. 1 Dodge this season. Former series champion Kevin Harvick crossed the finish line in third, followed by Jason Leffler and Tony Stewart in the top five. With the win, Busch retook the lead atop the Busch series point standings, leading Martin Truex Jr. by 38 points.
Biffle Wins LMS Busch Series Pole
Greg Biffle will start from the pole position for Saturday’s Carquest Auto Parts 300 at Lowe's Motor Speedway. Biffle qualified in 29.421 seconds, at an average speed of 183.542 mph, to earn his second Busch series pole of the season. Rookie Kyle Busch will start alongside Biffle on the front row, qualifying in the second starting spot. The remainder of the top-five starting positions went to Kasey Kahne, Kevin Harvick, and Joe Nemechek. Nextel Cup regulars took five of the top-six starting spots for the Busch series event.
