Meijer 300 presented by Oreo - Jason Leffler Notes

FRESH FROM FIRST VICTORY, LEFFLER READY FOR ANOTHER FIRST AT KENTUCKY SPEEDWAY

FT. MITCHELL, Ky. (June 14, 2004) - After finally capturing his first Busch Series win at Nashville (Tenn.) Superspeedway last weekend, Jason Leffler and the Haas Automation Racing team are ready to visit Kentucky Speedway for the first time. When the NASCAR Busch Series cars roll off the starting grid on Saturday, June 19th for the Meijer 300 it will be the first time Jason Leffler competes in a NASCAR Busch Series car at the track. However, the speedway is no stranger to Leffler who has competed there in the Craftsman Truck Series twice, finishing in the Top-5 on both occasions.

"Kentucky is just your typical 1.5-mile track," said Leffler. "I've never raced here before in a Busch car, but when I raced here in the trucks I had a lot of fun. We got a major confidence boost after getting our first win last weekend so now we are ready for another one. You work so hard for the first one and then when you finally get it, you just want to work even harder for more. This weekend, we're bringing the same car that we took to Lowe's, a similar track where we were able to get a fourth-place finish. It may be my first time in a Busch car at Kentucky, but I'm pretty confident it is going to be another good weekend for this Haas Automation team."

Kentucky is the second track on the schedule this season where it will be Leffler's first time on the track in a Busch car. The April event at Nashville was the first occasion and the team was able to capture a ninth-place finish. Leffler's average finish at a track one mile and over is 14th. Leffler and his Haas Automation Racing team's main goal is to continue earning consistent finishes.

"I'm really not that worried about not ever running at Kentucky Speedway in a Busch car," comments Leffler. "It just means that we have to work a little harder. We are just going to treat it like any other 1.5 mile track. Our main goal for Kentucky is to go home with a Top-10 run. We really just want to keep moving up in the points and in order to do that you just need to be consistent week in and week out."

Leffler looks forward to running under the lights at Kentucky since his win last weekend came at Nashville Superspeedway under the lights. With his Haas Automation Racing team coming together and with even more confidence than before, his first at Kentucky Speedway should be a great show.

"Racing under the lights is always fun, not only for the fans, but for the drivers. I don't know why, but it just seems like night races are a little more exciting for everybody. "I'm looking forward to my first time at Kentucky."

Jason Leffler and his Haas Automation Racing team will travel to Ft. Mitchell, Ky. for the running of the Meijer 300 at the Kentucky Speedway this Saturday night. The 300-mile event will be broadcast on FX at 7:30 p.m. (ET).
