Meijer 300 presented by Oreo - David Stremme Notes

Stremme Looking to Improve on Kentucky Success

Sparta, KY (June 15, 2004) – Team TRIMSPA driver David Stremme learned the way around the 1.5-mile Kentucky Speedway quickly by qualifying eighth and finishing 10th in 2003. Stremme was running inside the top five in the closing laps of the event before brushing the wall during some tough racing in the closing laps.

“I am ready and excited to get back to Kentucky,” said Stremme, driver of the TRIMSPA X32 Dodge. “The attendance for that stand-alone Busch Series race is just incredible. When you combine that with it being a night race and an excellent facility, it really pumps up the drivers.”

Stremme and Team TRIMSPA have endured their share of ups and downs in the past month. Stremme has two top-10 finishes in the past four races, including a top five at Nazareth Speedway. However two straight DNF’s at Nashville Superspeedway and Dover International Raceway have left the team eager to prove their performance at Kentucky.

“My brother won the ASA Late Model Series race last weekend at Grand Rapids,” said Stremme. “My dad won the late model race in New Paris, and my mother finished second in her late model at Plymouth. Since Kentucky Speedway is not that far from Indiana, I will have a lot of family at the race, and I don’t want to be the only one who has a bad run.”

Crew chief Randy Cox has elected to bring Chassis BR001 to the track this weekend. Stremme piloted this particular TRIMSPA Dodge to a top-10 finish at Lowe’s Motor Speedway just three weeks ago.

“BR001 is a strong car and Kentucky is a big race for the TRIMSPA Team,” said Stremme. “This is by far the largest Busch stand alone event. I really hope NASCAR takes a look at adding a second date there when they realign our schedule for next year.”

Team TRIMSPA will hit the track this Saturday for the Meijer 300 Busch Series race at Kentucky Speedway. The event will be televised live Saturday, June 19th at 7:30 p.m. eastern time on FX and will broadcast nationally at that same time on radio stations affiliated with Motor Racing Network (MRN) and XM Satellite Radio Channel 144.
