Busch Wins at IRP
For the second night in a row, Johnny Sauter appeared to have the field covered at IRP but finished second yet again, this time to rookie Kyle Busch. Busch used excellent pit strategy to get to the front of the pack and held on to win the Kroger 200 at Indianapolis Raceway Park on Saturday night. Busch finished .896 seconds ahead of Sauter to capture his fourth victory of the 2004 season. Sauter, who started from the pole position, led the most laps on the night, pacing the field for 121 laps, one night after leading the most laps and finishing second in the truck series race on Friday evening. Busch led the final 44 laps on the way to becoming only the second rookie to win at the Indianapolis short track in 23 years. Following Sauter in second place was Jason Leffler in the third position. Points leader Martin Truex Jr. and Greg Biffle rounded out the final positions in the top five.
