Stacker 200 presented by YJ Stinger - Tony Raines Notes

Raines Ready to Rally When “Tradin” Begins in Dover

MOORESVILLE, NC (September 21, 2004) – After starting and finishing 12th in the spring Dover event, Tony Raines returns to the “Monster Mile” looking to claim his fourth Top-10 and eclipse his best Dover finish (4th - Fall of 1999).

BACE Motorsports will salute The Outdoor Channel’s appearance on the “big board” of NASDAQ by displaying the The Outdoor Channel’s listed symbol (OUTD) on the decklid and TV Panel of the #74 entry. The move from the NASDAQ bulletin board to the National Market System is a huge milestone for The Outdoor Channel and Raines looks to rally the stock as soon as the green flag signifies the start of trading (paint, that is).

It’s the second consecutive season that BACE Motorsports has been associated with NASDAQ. In 2003, Raines and team owner Bill Baumgardner joined Robert Forney, President and CEO of America’s Second Harvest, in presiding over the NASDAQ Market Open in recognition of National Hunger Awareness Day, spotlighting BACE’s association with America’s Second Harvest and the commitment to end hunger.

Tony Raines on Dover …
“For qualifying at Dover, there’s a fine line between being successful or not – because you need to be aggressive but remember not overdrive the corners. A good qualifying run at Dover is all about timing and hitting your marks at the right times, because if you drive in too deep or turn in too soon at any point, you’ve lost your whole lap. Running the race is all about finding a good rhythm early and being consistent. It’s a challenging track that I look forward to returning to every season.”

BACE Fast Facts

  • The Ride … BACE Motorsports crew chief Mark Tutor has selected chassis #7408 for this weekend’s upcoming Stacker 200 at Dover International Speedway. Chassis # 8 made a brief appearance this season during the second stop at the Nashville Superspeedway. As a result of a cut tire, Raines made hard contact with the outside wall ending his day less than 20 laps into the race.
  • A Proven Track Record… Over the past decade, BACE Motorsports has been one of the most successful Busch Series Teams at Dover International Speedway. Team owner Bill Baumgardner has visited Victory Lane three times with two different drivers. Johnny Benson scored the first win ever for BACE in September of 1994. Randy Lajoie swept the Dover events in 1996 en route to a second consecutive NASCAR Busch Series Championship for BACE.
  • Running Neck and Neck … If Tony Raines is able to score his first NASCAR Busch Series victory at Dover this weekend it will tie Bill Baumgardner with owner Frank Cicci for the most wins as an owner at the one-mile facility. Cicci has a total of four victories. Baumgardner is currently tied with Darrell Waltrip with three wins and is one of only seven owners who have multiple wins at Dover.
