Stacker 200 presented by YJ Stinger - David Stremme Notes

Stremme Returns for Round Four with the Monster Mile

Dover, DE (September 21, 2004) – David Stremme is anxious for a top finish at Dover International Raceway. Despite a number of strong runs at Dover, Stremme has faced disappointment three times at the one-mile concrete oval.

“What’s wild is I really like Dover,” said Stremme, driver of the TRIMSPA X32 Dodge. “I have always run strong there. It is an aggressive track that is like a big Bristol. But this place definitely owes me one.”

Round one at Dover occurred in Stremme’s Rookie of the Year winning season in the No. 1 Phoenix Racing Dodge. Stremme was spun into the outside wall while running in eighth position and wound up finishing 27th. During the second half of his freshman season, Stremme and series veteran David Green spun due to oil on the track as they were slicing up through the field. Stremme finished 21st. In 2004 Stremme has already raced at Dover but in a new car, the TRIMSPA X32 Dodge. Despite the new team the results were almost identical, as Stremme was headed to the front in the eighth position he was collected in a wreck between Kevin Harvick and Johnny Sauter. Stremme finished a disappointing 34th.

“I have had some tough luck at Dover but I can’t help but be optimistic,” said Stremme. “I am very comfortable driving there. You just have to be at the right place at the right time”

Just three races ago Stremme came back from a disappointing spring race at Bristol Motor Speedway to finish sixth in the second race in August. By the end of that race it was apparent that Team TRIMSPA had found their chassis for Dover.

“Randy (Cox) is bringing a different car to Dover this weekend,” said Stremme. “Chassis BR12 finished strong at Bristol and we are looking for that to translate to Dover.”

Stremme and Team TRIMSPA will take to the track to compete in the Busch Series race at Dover International Speedway this Saturday, September 25. The event will be televised live at 1 p.m. eastern time on TNT and will broadcast nationally at that same time on radio stations affiliated with Motor Racing Network (MRN) and XM Satellite Radio Channel 144.
