MBNA America 200 - Jason Leffler Notes

LEFFLER LOOKS FOR ANOTHER FIRST WIN AT DOVER

Dover, Del. (June 1, 2004) - A year ago Jason Leffler left Dover International Speedway with his first win in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series. This year, Leffler hopes to leave with his first win in the NASCAR Busch Series at the MBNA America 200 Saturday June 5, 2004.

"Last year I had a lot of fun at Dover," Leffler remarked. "It was my second trip to Dover in the Truck series and I left with my first win. This will be my second start in the Busch series at Dover so maybe the second time is the charm. We had a two-day test here in May and we were able to learn a lot about the track and the setup that we need to bring. It helped me get a better feeling of the track in the Haas Automation Chevrolet and I think that we are ready to take on the one-mile oval."

Leffler and his Haas Automation Racing team are coming to Dover after leading their first lap in the NASCAR Busch Series the previous weekend at Lowe's (Concord, N.C.) Motor Speedway. Leffler has competed at the Dover International Speedway on one other occasion in the 2000 Busch Series MBNA Platinum 200. Leffler wheeled his way to a 28th- place finish that year and looks to improve his history in the Haas Automation Chevrolet entry.

"Last weekend gave the guys at the track and in the shop confidence in the team that we can run up front. Coming to Dover team morale is up and in turn that will help us strive to be better. We know that we have what is needed to win. All we need now is the luck on our side to get us to victory lane. In the past I didn't have the finish that I wanted in a Busch car; I really think that this team will give me the car that I need to prove what I can do."

The one-mile concrete oval has a tendency to be tougher than it is perceived. But the experience that Leffler and the Haas Automation Racing team bring to the table should show for a great race. Leffler's second start at Dover in a Busch Series car is sure to be great one.

"I'm a little partial to Dover because I got my first win in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series here last year. The high banks and the concrete create for great, fast racing. It is almost like you are on a roller coaster racing on the edge the entire day. One false move and you can cost yourself the race. Starting position is crucial as it is at all tracks. Passing is always difficult so starting up front gives you an advantage and the ability try to stay out of the accidents. A Top-10 qualifying run should give us a great start for the weekend. Bootie (Barker - crew chief) and the guys give me a great car week in and week out; this weekend won't be any different. We'll go out there and show what we have and hopefully take a trip to victory lane."

Leffler will try and make the second time around be the charm as he travels to Dover International Speedway June 5. The MBNA America 200 will be broadcast on FX television and MRN radio at 1pm (ET).
