Biffle Claims Rain-Delayed Dover Busch Win
Greg Biffle confirmed his commitment to running all of the 2004 Busch series races this weekend and proceeded to win his third race of the season. Biffle took the checkered flag 1.772 seconds ahead of Martin Truex Jr. to score the win in the rain-delayed MBNA America 200 at Dover International Speedway. The win is the 14th of Biffle’s Busch series career and his second at Dover. Biffle led 21 laps in the event, the final 21, while Truex led the most laps of the day, pacing the field for 75 laps. Truex brought home a second place finish, while David Green, who led 44 laps in the event after starting from the pole, finished in third. Bobby Hamilton Jr. and points leader Kyle Busch rounded out the top five in the finishing order. The race, which was postponed from Saturday due to persistent rain, featured eight caution flags for a total of 54 laps.
MBNA America 200 at Dover Postponed
Afternoon rain showers in the Dover, Del., area forced the postponement of the NASCAR Busch Series MBNA America 200 just 28 laps into the scheduled 200-lap race. The race will resume on Monday, June 7th at 11 a.m., and when the green flag waves, Bobby Hamilton, Jr. will lead the field across the start-finish line. Hamilton, who started the race from the sixth position, took the lead from David Green on lap 11 before the race was red-flagged for inclement weather.
Green to Start from Dover Pole
David Green will start Saturday’s MBNA America 200 at Dover International Speedway from the pole position. Green broke the existing track record with a qualifying lap of 22.797 seconds, at an average speed of 157.915 mph. Green’s lap eclipsed the record set by Joe Nemechek last season. The pole is the 22nd of Green’s career and his first of the season. Johnny Sauter will join his teammate on the front row, starting from the outside pole. Jason Leffler will start third, followed by Kasey Kahne and Ron Hornaday in the top five.
