Hershey's Kisses 300 - Robby Gordon Notes
ROBBY GORDON AND FRUIT OF THE LOOM SET FOR 2004 BUSCH SERIES DEBUT
HUNTERSVILLE, NC (February 9, 2004) - The 2004 NASCAR Busch Series season is almost underway beginning February 14th at the Daytona International Speedway with the Hershey's Kisses 300, the biggest Busch Series race of the season. This season, fans will witness history in the making as owner/driver Robby Gordon races behind the wheel of the No. 55 Fruit of the Loom Chevrolet Monte Carlo.
"I am really excited about the Fruit of the Loom Busch program," said Gordon. "The entire Robby Gordon Motorsports team is brand new. We are all looking forward to a great season, having a lot of fun and winning a bunch of races in the Busch Series. As for Daytona, we just want to get down there and have a good performance. I am really confident in Bob Temple (crew chief) and the exceptional people that he has surrounded himself with."
Temple, a veteran of the NASCAR garage and long-time friend of Robby Gordon, will be the crew chief for the No. 55 Fruit of the Loom Chevrolet Monte Carlo. Temple brings his many years of experience to the Fruit of the Loom Racing Team and is optimistic about the Hershey's Kisses 300 and working with Gordon.
"I love racing in Daytona and I am really looking forward to racing with Robby," said Temple. "Robby is a pretty savvy driver. He gets in the draft so I don't think we'll have a problem staying up front. We have built some solid cars this winter and we are ready to see what they can do."
Daytona will be just one of the many tests that the new Fruit of the Loom Racing Team will face during their 24-race schedule this year.
"There are some good Busch Series teams out there so we have our work cut out for us," said Gordon. "If you don't expect to do well, you haven't raised the bar high enough. We built this team to win races and hopefully, that's just what we will do."
