Target House 300 - Rookie Qualifying Quotes
Where the Raybestos Rookies will start in the Target House 300
KYLE BUSCH, #5 LOWE'S/SHOP VAC CHEVROLET: "I think we'll be all right. Obviously, we're up somewhere near the front so it will be good for the Lowe's Chevrolet and we'll just kind of take it off into the race. We'll see what we can work on in happy hour, though, to make it a little bit better. We've been kind of fighting the same condition just a little bit; kind of pushy-loose up through off of two. We'll make it better." IS THIS THE SAME CAR YOU HAD A MICHIGAN? "Same car we had a Michigan. I think the banking that's lacking at this place; I could really use it right now. I think that'd really help us out. We're not in a hurry to do anything spectacular here on Friday. We'll do it tomorrow." YOU ARE GOING TO START NEAR MARTIN TRUEX JR. "It looks like we're behind him this week. We had him last week but we're behind him this week." COMMENT ON YOUR LAP. "It probably lacked a little bit. I couldn't tell you exactly where. I drove it off into the corners really far and felt as though it stuck really well so I thought it was going to be a good lap for us. I was able to bring up the gas. I might have been a little too skatey there coming up off of turn four but overall I thought it was going to be a good lap." THIS COULD BE A GOOD STRETCH OF RACES FOR YOU. "I definitely am and of course then we get to go to Lowe's and Kansas City which is a sister track to Chicago where we ran so well. There's quite a few tracks here late in the season that I think we can really shine at and I hope the Lowe's Chevrolet team is able to do that. We've got to make sure to keep our nose clean and make sure we keep doing what we've been doing all year long."
PAUL MENARD, #11 MENARDS/PITTSBURGH PAINTS CHEVROLET: "I guess that's about par for the course. Everybody seems to be slowing down by about two-tenths. We made quite a few changes to the car so we actually hoped to pick up but the track is just getting real slippery. I'm getting in and through the corner pretty good, just getting off I really had to play with the throttle. You do that here and you just get killed." IS THIS THE SAME CAR YOU HAD A MICHIGAN? "We came here with the same setup and everything and found out they are two different racetracks so we kind of struggled a little bit in practice and got it working pretty good on older tires toward the end of practice so I'm looking forward to happy hour and tomorrow's race. We weren't bad. The Lowe's Chevrolet ran pretty good, pretty much right off the truck. This is the same car that we had at Michigan a few weeks ago so we think it's a pretty good piece. We're excited to have it in race trim here in happy hour. The temperature change today was kind of the biggest deal for us but I think overall it was for everybody. The qualifying run was pretty good so hopefully we can get into happy hour where we need to be and work on race trim." YOU ARE STARTING RIGHT BEHIND THE PERSON [MARTIN TRUEX JR.] YOU ARE CHASING FOR THE BUSCH SERIES TITLE. "Basically, I think it's obviously good for both of us to start up front. We're both going to be able to use the racetrack to our own advantage and hopefully we're able to battle each other out there in the race and maybe get spread out a little bit to take the ease off of everything and basically run our own races. That's all you can do." YOUR TEAM HAS REBOUNDED FROM SOME TOUGH TIMES IN THE LAST THREE RACES. DOES THAT HELP YOU CONFIDENCE LEVEL? "It does. It definitely gives us a lot of things to look forward to. We ran pretty good here in the spring. We wrecked in practice and were able to pull a backup out. We ran up to the front and I think we finished seventh due to fuel mileage stretch and things that happened there at the end of the race. Overall, I'm excited. We have this weekend here in California and then we go to Richmond where we won in the spring and later on down the line we got Kansas, Lowe's, Atlanta so there some pretty good racetracks that are coming up for us that I believe that can really shine at. Hopefully we can keep on plugging away at this championship until the end."
