The Food City 250 will be Gordon's 19th start of a planned 25- race schedule for the Fruit of the Loom Racing Team this season. This will also be Gordon's second NASCAR Busch Series start at Bristol Motor Speedway.
The team will take Chassis No. 05, the same chassis Gordon ran August 7th at IRP (15th).
The Fruit of the Loom Chevrolet will be powered by Richard Childress Racing engines and will be pitted by crew members from RCR's No. 31 NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Chevrolet.
Gordon has scored three top-five and seven top-10 finishes this season in the No. 55 Fruit of the Loom Chevrolet, with his career- best finishes (third) coming at Daytona and Texas.
Entering the Food City 250, Gordon has led six races this season for a total of 100 laps: Daytona-February (nine), Nashville-April (nine), Talladega (46), Dover- June (10), Daytona-July (12), and Chicagoland (14). He led the most laps at Talladega, the only time he has led the most laps in a Busch race this season.
Gordon's Comments on Bristol...
"I know I say this every week but this Fruit of the Loom Chevrolet is more than ready to win a Busch Series race. We have worked hard to build a winning program and hopefully Friday night will be our breakthrough win. We have put ourselves in position almost every race and our plan is to do the same this weekend in Bristol.
"In order to be in position to win at Bristol we have to qualify well on Thursday. We didn't qualify well in March and that put us deep in the field. It's so hard to stay out of trouble when you start in the back of the field. If we qualify well and stay out of trouble, we will have a good chance of winning our first race."
