Sharpie Professional 250 - Rookie Qualifying Quotes

KYLE BUSCH IN THE #5 LOWE'S/SHOP VAC CHEVROLET WAS THE TOP RAYBESTOS. ROOKIE QUALIFIER AT BRISTOL. HE WILL START 11TH IN SATURDAY'S RACE.

DID THE TRACK SLOW DOWN FROM PRACTICE TO QUALIFYING? "Obviously Biffle proved that it didn't slow down. We gave it what we had and we were a little bit snug there through the qualifying but these Lowe's/Shop Vac guys never give up. Every week they're working harder and harder so it's just a matter of time before we get what we need to get. There's a lot more rubber out there, too, so I'm curious to see what happens at race time. Hopefully it will be within the top-12 somewhere. I don't think it will be a top-10. You never know; it could easily be, though. I hope everybody else slows down kind of like what we did but there's probably a lot of guys like Biffle who may be able to pick up." IS BRISTOL A COMPLETELY DIFFERENT TYPE OF TRACK FOR YOU? "Bristol is just because of the concrete, but I've actually raced at Winchester and Salem so those places are pretty white knuckle places. David Stremme was always good at those places so he should be able to run all right here. We'll have to see what we can do. This place is it's own animal but Dover is a lot like it also." IS THERE ANYTHING YOU CAN DO HERE TO STAY OUT OF TROUBLE DURING THE RACE? "I don't think there is anything you can do except park yourself on pit road [smiles]. You're not going to get many laps down there. You just try to keep as clean of a nose as you can and just try to make sure that you are there at the end. That's what it's all about."

STAN BOYD, #51 EPH/TRI KING CHEVROLET:

"That's the best that it felt all day. We basically just backed up what we did in practice and I always say if you can back up what you did in practice that's all you can ask. The car felt the best that it had all day. We had Morgan [Shepherd] qualify the team car and he helped us, gave us good advice on what the track was doing and that always helps. This is the first time that I've ever been here. I love it! I might not say the same thing after the race but right now I love it." WHAT DID MORGAN SHEPHERD HELP YOU WITH? "He went out and qualified and then he said that the track had loosened up a little bit so we made some air pressure adjustments accordingly and the car was the best that it had been all day."

DONNIE NEUENBERGER, #77 UNIVERSITY OF MARYLAND/BG PRODUCTS FORD:

"I love this place. We wanted to bring the car from Darlington and we messed it up so this car is really not driving that good. We're having some steering issues and if you can't turn here you can't turn anywhere. I think we're in the field and we're just here to learn." LOCAL DRIVER BRAD TEAGUE HAS ENJOYED SOME GOOD RUNS HERE IN THE PAST. HOW MUCH HAS HE BEEN ABLE TO HELP YOU? "Quite a bit. After happy hour, he helped me figure out Darlington. I just wanted those guys to know that if there is something wrong with this car I'd probably let him turn a few laps in this car [during happy hour] since he has done so well here. We almost caught him, time-wise, in qualifying."

PAUL MENARD, #33 MENARDS/PEAK CHEVROLET:

"I thought we were going to pick up more, to tell you the truth. In practice we ran out best lap in probably 10-lap tires. I was thinking that stickers would be better. I'm kind of disappointed right now because I thought we'd be better that that. I ran here last year in the trucks and I kind of hoped to redeem ourselves from that. We had a good truck but it was really loose. I kind of know what we need to do in happy hour so we'll be good for the race."
