Truex Wins First Busch Race at Bristol
Martin Truex Jr. claimed his first victory in the Busch series on a wild and wooly Saturday afternoon at Bristol Motor Speedway. In other words it was typical Bristol. In a race that featured wrecks, fiery tempers, a little confusion, and a few heated confrontations, Truex was able to emerge victorious. The win for Truex comes in his 20th series start. The event ended under caution, with Truex at the front of the field and Mike Bliss in second place but Bliss, thinking the race was over, hit pit road with one lap to go and dropped back to 17th in the finishing order. Kevin Harvick inherited the runner-up position and built on his point lead, now holding a 41-point advantage over David Green. Rookie Kyle Busch finished third in his first Bristol start, followed by pole sitter Greg Biffle in fourth.
Biffle on Pole for Sharpie Professional 250
Greg Biffle will start the weekend the very same place that he ended last weekend, at the front of the field. One week after winning the Busch series event in Darlington, Biffle will start the Sharpie Professional 250 at Bristol Motor Speedway from the pole position. Biffle qualified in 15.093 seconds, at an average speed of 127.132 mph, to set a new track record, besting the previous record set by David Green. The pole is the second of the season for Biffle and the 11th of his career. Martin Truex Jr. will join Biffle on the front row, starting from the second spot, followed by David Green and Bobby Hamilton Jr. in row two.
