Aaron's 312 - Kevin Lepage Notes
MacDonald Motorsports Carries Unique Atlanta Sponsor
Please note Kevin Lepage will now driver the #72 gunbroker.com Chevrolet for MacDonald Motorsports in Saturday's Aaron's 312 NASCAR Busch Series race at the 1.54-mile Atlanta Motor Speedway.
THOMASVILLE, N.C. – GunBroker.com, the world’s largest online auction of firearms and accessories, will sponsor the #72 NASCAR Busch Series entry of car owner Randy MacDonald in Saturday’s Aaron’s 312 race at the 1.54-mile Atlanta Motor Speedway.
“Our involvement with the #72 MacDonald Motorsports Busch team will help promote our proven online auction service to millions of hunters, competitive shooters and other gun owners and collectors,” said Jack Alberty, vice president and general manager of GunBroker.com, which hosts thousands of auctions each day. Each month, more than one million unique visitors access the site at www.GunBroker.com.
GunBroker.com is utilizing the sponsorship to not only promote its Web site but also to promote the National Shooting Sports Foundation (NSSF) and its voter education and mobilization campaign, “Vote Your Sport.” NSSF provides trusted leadership for the hunting and sport shooting industry – promoting safe ownership and use of firearms for recreational shooting and hunting. The “Vote Your Sport” logo will appear on the car sponsored by GunBroker.com.
GunBroker.com is also donating some logo space on the car to Ecolife Industries. Every year more than 281 million tires are discarded into scrap heaps or landfill sites. Ecolife Industries has turned this waste into practical, safe, low maintenance and environmentally friendly landscape products.
“We are very excited to help GunBroker.com and NSSF carry their message to NASCAR fans,” said MacDonald, the only full-time Canadian car owner in any of NASCAR’s top three divisions. “GunBroker.com’s donation of logo space on the #72 to Ecolife is also a nice touch.”
This is MacDonald Motorsports’ first season of full-time NASCAR Busch Series competition. Currently in 26th in the national standings, the team has notched strong finishes in several races this season.
From the business and marketing side, MacDonald’s sponsorship efforts – and results – have reached near legendary proportions in NASCAR. His abilities to find niche sponsors are tops in the field of sports marketing, and he has found ways to make those sponsorships – even one-race sponsorships – work.
One of the top selling books of the past several years – the Left Behind series – sponsored MacDonald’s truck when the books first started reaching book shelves. Drill Doctor, a drill bit sharpening tool, appeared on MacDonald’s car at Bristol, Tenn.; and. KB Home of Los Angeles, Calif., a $5.85 billion company, sponsored his car in the September California Speedway event.
“Giving our sponsors more than they ask for is important to us,” MacDonald said. “It’s obviously a business thing but it’s a moral thing too. We have an obligation to do the best job we can do for our sponsors, and we take that very seriously.
“It’s been quite the journey from the short tracks back home. With the realization of what we have to operate on and who we are racing against in the Busch series, we’ve had some pretty good on-track accomplishments. Our goal is to continue building and to do everything we can to keep getting better. And I believe that we are on the right track” he added.
GunBroker.com promotes responsible gun ownership. As a company, GunBroker.com sells none of the merchandise listed on its Web site. Third-party sellers list items on the site, and every buyer or seller must be legally allowed to own firearms. Ownership policies and regulations are followed using licensed firearms dealers as transfer agents. The site also features fraud insurance. The site is an informative, detailed, secure and safe way to buy and sell firearms and hunting and shooting accessories.
