Aaron's 312 - Atlanta Motor Speedway
Kenseth Survives Atlanta
Kyle Busch posted an inspired charge to claim an emotional win on Saturday in Atlanta, only to fall .119 seconds short. Matt Kenseth survived three late cautions, a 12-minute red flag, a green-white-checkered finish, and a highly motivated Busch to win the Aaron's 312 at Atlanta Motor Speedway. The win for Kenseth is his third in the Busch series this season and the 17th of his career. Kenseth, the defending Cup series champion, led the most laps in the event, pacing the field four times for a total of 58 laps. Busch, racing with a heavy heart after losing his car owner Ricky Hendrick and other colleagues in a plane crash last week, finished in the runner-up position. Kasey Kahne came home in third, followed by Robby Gordon and Greg Biffle in the top five. In an interesting note, the top-six finishers in the event will all be running in Sunday’s Nextel Cup race. The race featured 19 lead changes among eight drivers, six caution flags for a total of 30 laps and one red flag.
Bliss Wins Atlanta Busch Pole
Mike Bliss won the pole position for the NASCAR Busch Series Aaron's 312 at Atlanta Motor Speedway on Friday afternoon. Bliss qualified in 29.354 seconds, at an average speed of 188.867 mph, to earn his third top starting position this season. Bliss last sat on a NBS pole at Daytona in July, while his first series pole came at Las Vegas in March. Points leader Martin Truex Jr. will join Bliss on row number one, starting from the outside pole. Row two on the starting grid is made up of Kevin Harvick and Kyle Busch.
