Garrett Liberty to Pilot SCORE Motorsports Chevrolet at Memphis
CHARLOTTE, N.C., (Oct. 13, 2004) -- Garrett Liberty, a 22-year-old aspiring racer from Atlanta, Ga., will pilot the No. 02 SCORE Motorsports Chevrolet in next weekend's Sam's Town 250 at Memphis Motorsports Park while Hermie Sadler competes in the NEXTEL Cup race at Martinsville Speedway. Memphis will mark the first career NASCAR Busch Series start for Liberty, who has competed in several ARCA events this year.
Sadler, the 1993 Busch Series Rookie of the Year, says he has been following the progress of Liberty throughout the season and thinks he is ready to be competitive in the Busch Series. "I have been following his progress this year," Sadler said. "I am impressed with the way he handles himself, both on and off the track. We are currently looking at some younger drivers to bring into our program and Garrett fits into what we are looking for. We look forward to a successful debut and hopefully a bright future with Garrett Liberty."
Liberty, who has been in talks with several car owners from different divisions, knows this is a great opportunity to make his NASCAR Busch Series debut. "This has been a dream of mine for a long time," Liberty said. "I know I will only get one chance for a solid first impression, so to get the chance with an established team like SCORE Motorsports is very exciting."
SCORE Motorsports is currently seeking sponsorship for Memphis and other races during the 2004 season and beyond. The team is owned by NASCAR driver Hermie Sadler and retired NBA star Bryant Stith. For more information, call 434-348-0267.
