BASS Pro Shops Salutes Ducks Unlimited in Memphis
Springfield, MO---October 20, 2004---In conjunction with Dale Earnhardt, Inc. and Chance 2 Motorsports, Bass Pro Shops will be saluting Ducks Unlimited in unique fashion this weekend.
Ducks Unlimited, headquartered in Memphis, is being recognized for their world leadership in wetlands conservation. Bass Pro Shops, a major Ducks Unlimited partner, has generously donated the prominent space on the No. 8 Chevrolet.
In October of last year, the Dale Earnhardt Foundation presented Ducks Unlimited with a check to help conserve 58,000 acres of critical Louisiana wetlands.
“Ducks Unlimited is thrilled that Bass Pro Shops gave us the opportunity to place DU’s logo on its racecar,” said Don Young, DU’s Executive Vice President. “NASCAR is one of the most popular, fastest growing spectator sports in the nation, and it’s a great opportunity to get DU’s name out in front of people. A lot of NASCAR fans like to hunt and fish. In fact, Martin Truex, Jr., who is driving the car, is an avid outdoorsman and DU supporter.”
“All of us at Bass Pro Shops are extremely proud to be associated with Ducks Unlimited,” stated Johnny Morris founder of Bass Pro Shops. “Featuring the Ducks Unlimited logo on the No.8 Chevrolet which will be seen by millions of NASCAR fans across America is our way of thanking them for all they have done to preserve and protect our nation’s wetlands.”
Ducks Unlimited was founded by a group of waterfowl hunters more than 67 years ago and has grown to over 750,000 members across the continent. DU has conserved more than 11 million acres of habitat across North America in the areas that are most important to ducks and geese. For more information about Ducks Unlimited, go to www.ducks.org.
As a strong supporter of environmental and habitat conservation organizations, Bass Pro Shops has often been recognized for its conservation initiatives. They have received more national, international and local conservation awards than any other outdoor retailer in America. For more information about Bass Pro Shops log on to www.basspro.com.
