Aaron's 312 - Jason Keller Notes

ALBERTSONS-Jason Keller
Talladega Superspeedway
NASCAR Busch Series

Notes and Quotes

Jason Keller Notes:

· Jason Keller and the Albertsons team avoided the “big one” at Talladega Superspeedway last year to capture his first win at the 2.66-mile track. Keller came from 13th to second by lap 14 to avoid the multi-car incident that dramatically reduced the field to just three cars running on the lead lap.

· Keller finished 18th at Texas Motor Speedway after damage to the front valance of the Albertsons Ford affected the aerodynamics of the car. As a result, the car did not get as good of gas mileage as in previous runs and Keller ran out of fuel one lap short of his scheduled pit stop.

· In 10 starts at Talladega, Keller has just one top-five and one top-10 finish - his victory last season.

Jason Keller Quotes:

Talladega… Keller is looking for his first win of the season, and first for a NASCAR Busch Series regular this weekend at Talladega Superspeedway in his quest to defend last year’s victory. Keller will be driving a 2003 Ford Taurus that has not seen one lap on a track.

“I’m excited to go back to Talladega,” said Keller. “It’s fun challenging yourself to defend a race title. There is a ton of prestige that comes with winning at a track like Talladega. Last year we avoided the big wreck in Talladega to win the race when we were running second. This season we were involved in a wreck at Daytona running fourth. So anything can happen at any time when you are restrictor-plate racing, that’s what makes it an exciting race.

“Since our car from Daytona was destroyed, we are taking a brand new car this weekend that is untested. It is a beautiful car and the team has worked really hard on it. We just don’t know how well it will do, but I have every confidence that the Albertsons team prepared a great car.”

Is it time for a NASCAR Busch Series driver to win...

“Everyone wants to talk about the Winston Cup regulars winning all the Busch races so far this season, but it is not like a Busch regular hasn’t been competitive,” said Keller. “There are several races this season that could have been one by a series regular. The Winston Cup drivers are not dominating the entire event, they are just there at the end and have been able to capitalize on our misfortunes.”
