HELPING TO MAKE THE PENTAGON MEMORIAL A REALITY
In an effort to bring more awareness to the Pentagon Memorial, a memorial
commemorating the 184 lives lost in the Pentagon and American Airlines
Flight 77 on September 11, 2001, the No. 46Civil Air Patrol Chevrolet Monte
Carlo, driven by Ashton Lewis, Jr. will feature the logo for the Pentagon
Memorial on its hood in Friday night's Funai 250.
Ashton Lewis, Jr. on Richmond:
"The last time we were in Richmond there were plenty of ups and downs. I
wrecked during qualifying and we had to pull out the back-up and start from
the rear of the field. It probably worked out for the best because it
turned out to be a great race car. We worked our way up to sixth with about
45 to go and got caught up in an accident that ended our night. We're
taking that some car back this weekend with a very similar set-up. In that
event we had a car that on the long runs was probably the fastest car on the
race track. We have tried to make it a little better on the short-runs for
this weekend so that we're better right off the bat and we don't lose any
track position early on.
We always look forward to going to Richmond with it being our home track.
We look forward to performing well in front of family and friends and in the
last three races there we have been very competitive. We look forward to
having a good strong run Friday night, first so we can get our swing back
after last weekend at Darlington and second, make a good showing in front of
the hometown crowd."
Equipment:
The No. 46 Civil Air Patrol Racing team will compete with chassis No. 13
this weekend in the Funai 250. This is the same chassis Lewis, Jr. competed
with earlier in the season at the spring Richmond event and at Indianapolis
Raceway Park last month.
