Sauter Bumps and Runs to Victory Lane at Richmond
Johnny Sauter used the old “chrome horn” on Matt Kenseth to win the Funai 250 at Richmond International Raceway. The two cars had made contact a few times over the closing laps, both under green and under the caution, until Sauter bumped Kenseth in the final turn on the final lap to take the checkered flag and his second career Busch Series win. Kenseth slipped back to finish in the sixth position. Sauter, who started 30th, led 32 of the event’s 250 laps, while Kenseth, the Winston Cup points leader, led the most laps on the night. Kevin Harvick came home in the second position after starting from the pole. Bobby Hamilton Jr. finished in the third spot, while Brian Vickers and David Green rounded out the top five.
