Harvick Wins in Richmond
Kevin Harvick, the 2001 Busch Grand National series champion, was at the front of the field when the final caution flag flew in the Hardee's 250 at Richmond International Raceway, giving him his second Busch victory of the season. Harvick took the lead with 51 laps remaining and survived a hard-charging Scott Riggs to win the crash fest, which featured a record 14 caution flags and one red flag. For Harvick, it was his 10th career win in the Busch series. Riggs finished in the runner-up spot as the highest finishing Busch regular. Tony Raines finished third, while pole sitter Michael Waltrip and Scott Wimmer rounded out the top five.
Waltrip Grabs Richmond Busch Pole
Michael Waltrip will lead the field in the Busch series Hardee's 250 to the green flag on Friday night, after capturing the pole position at Richmond International Raceway. Qualifying was delayed for 3 hours and 40 minutes after water was seeping onto the Richmond track in turns one and two. Waltrip qualified in 21.510 seconds, at an average speed of 125.523 mph, to earn his 14th BGN career pole position. Jason Keller will start from the outside-pole position after qualifying in 21.535 seconds. Stacy Compton and Shane Hmiel will make out the second row in the starting grid.
