Wimmer Wins at The Peak
Scott Wimmer held off Jason Keller to capture his first victory of the 2003 season. Wimmer passed Keller with 23 laps remaining and held on to win the TrimSpa Dream Body 250 at Pikes Peak International Raceway by a margin of 1.045 seconds. Wimmer led 70 of the event’s 250 laps to grab his fifth career win, while Ron Hornaday led the most laps on the day by pacing the field for 80 circuits. Keller finished in the runner-up position followed by his teammate Scott Wimmer in third. Wimmer regained the lead atop the Busch series point standings, leading by a mere two points over David Green. Johnny Sauter crossed the stripe in fourth, while Stacy Compton rounded out the top five.
Pikes Peak Pole for Hamilton Jr.
Bobby Hamilton Jr. will lead the field to the green flag for the TrimSpa Dream Body 250 presented by Dodge at Pikes Peak International Raceway after taking the pole position on Friday evening. Hamilton’s lap of 27.003 seconds, at an average speed of 133.318 mph, gave him his first pole of the 2003 season and the third of his career. Stacy Compton will start from the outside pole, while Ron Hornaday and Brain Vickers start from row two.
